Sit Stand Walk
These are exciting days! Jeremiah is learning what his legs can do; he is learning what his body is capable of doing when all of his parts work together!
As we watch him move from a sitting position, to a standing position, to a leg-moving motion, we are cheering him along. There are many moments of head-banging and limb-banging hurts which bring about many tears. Comfort and encouragement are right there to meet him; Hope embraces him as we pick him up and tell him "good job", "you're okay", "you can do it".
What he often needs is someone to simply be there to assist him in pulling up or sitting back down (depending on the level of difficulty!). This takes a willingness on my/our part; it takes patience and service - love ultimately (oh the many faces of love...endless).
On a sobering note: what I need to remember is how impacting prayer is in Jeremiah learning to move. My prayers need to continue to be "Holy Spirit come. Jesus, give him grace to understand. Give him knowledge to understand how his body works. Give him wisdom. Protect him as he moves. Put the Fear of the LORD deep within him as he learns, that he may seek You in the process, even at a young age."
"How strange a body would be if it had only one part! Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.” In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen, while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it." 1 Corinthians 12:19-27
