Hello Hands, Meet Your Eyes!

Happy Holidays!

Decorating the home in blankets of color - what could be better! There are so many fun ways of bringing home-made decorations to life, especially in the eyes of a child. It is all new to them; things that they have never done and have barely even begun to imagine. What is even better about the home-made aspect of decorations is getting the kids involved; AND, they are learning and growing in their development during the fun process. While giving them instructions, the conversation involves colors, shapes, sizes, textures, and numbers. What they do not realize is that in the midst of the fun, their hand-eye coordination is growing by leaps and bounds. Which in turn equates to future things like strumming a guitar or measuring liquids for a science project or scanning through a variety of books to find out where a country is located.

Hand-eye coordination is essential in the development of a child's life. They start recognizing how the two work together a few months after birth. Once the process begins, all that is needed are different creative opportunities to develop the precision of the fingers. Hallelujah for creativity, patience, and provision!

"Teach me your decrees, O LORD; I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart. Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found." Psalm 119:33-35
