"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness
for they will be satisfied." Matthew 5:6
for they will be satisfied." Matthew 5:6
"Whoever pursues righteousness and love
finds life, prosperity, and honor." Proverbs 21:21
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33
Just as Jeremiah is learning to express his hunger for my milk, I must pay attention to his hunger for "God's milk" - righteousness. The body has a system in place, that God designed, to alert us of a need for more food - hunger pains. The spirit within us acts similarly. It longs to be fed and nurtured. When it doesn't receive the proper nutrients, it begins to faint. The Word of God - the Bible - is a way to feed the spirit. Waiting before the LORD - thinking upon His beauty and majesty, declaring praises, and hearing Him speak Truth - is also food for the spirit. And just as Jeremiah will gradually be eating more and more solid foods while decreasing in the amount of milk he drinks, so are we to do in the spirit. We are to grow in what we consume in the spiritual - more time before the LORD. May God deepen and expand Jeremiah's hunger and thirst for righteousness - for God.
