Hallelujah for obedience.
Hallelujah for the parallels in parenting.
As I embark on each day's journey of correcting and guiding my son, I am reminded of all the ways in which my Heavenly Father corrects and guides me. Just as I struggle when my son disobeys my gentle leading's, so God has to work through the situations in which I disobey Him. I won't use the word 'struggle' with God because of His perfect nature - mine on the other hand is not perfect and I often am tested to keep the patience when my son pushes the limits.
I am encouraged that my son will eventually learn what it means to obey just as I am learning everyday what it means to obey my Heavenly Father.
When I give my son time outs, I find myself praying over him: "God, give him the wisdom to understand what it means to obey - You above all - but with us too, as his parents." And when I have moments throughout each day, I often will pray for myself and my husband: "God, give us wisdom in raising this beautiful child. Give us grace to be patient and understanding. Give us strength to stay righteous in our responses to his choices."
Hallelujah for not being alone in the journey of parenting.
Choose Joy and Oil is on the move.
